Free tools for your business

Would a new customer understand your website?

Open your site in another tab. Answer these eight questions as if you were visiting for the first time, then see what deserves attention.

This is a guided self-check, not an automated website scan, SEO audit or prediction of enquiries. Select “Not sure” wherever you need another opinion.

1. Can a new visitor tell what you sell from the top of the homepage?

Read the opening heading without the rest of the page. Does it name a service or just make a general promise?

2. Is it easy to contact you on a phone?

Open the site on your phone. Find the contact button and check that the form or phone link works.

3. Can visitors find the detail they need about each service?

Look for what is included, who it is suitable for and how to get a price.

4. Is there real work or relevant experience to back up your claims?

Look for permission-approved projects, examples, qualifications or customer feedback.

5. Does the site reflect what your business does today?

Check services, photographs, contact details and any out-of-date statements.

6. Can you read and use the main pages comfortably on mobile?

Check text size, buttons, navigation and any content that spills off the screen.

7. Does the site answer the questions customers ask before buying?

Consider price factors, what you need from the customer, timing and what happens next.

8. Can you reach the main content without a frustrating wait?

Try your phone on a normal mobile connection. This is an observation, not a measured speed test.
